COP27 COMPETITION
The Impact of Climate Change on The Bahamas: Problem Solving for a Resilient Future.
A national competition is being undertaken, with the support of Corporate Bahamas, to provide financial support for young Bahamians to attend COP27 scheduled for 7th – 18th November, 2022 in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt.
Applicants will be judged based on their submission and performance in the following areas:
- AN ESSAY – Topic: “The Impact of Climate Change on The Bahamas: Problem Solving for a Resilient Future”. Word length: 600-850 for high school students), and 850-1000 for tertiary students.
Format for essay: typed, Times New Roman, font 12, 1.5 space. Please note that ORIGINALITY is important. For high school students, essays under 600 words and more than 850 words will be disqualified, for tertiary students essays under 850 words and more than 1000 words will be disqualified. Word count must be noted at the end of the essay. - A VIDEO showcasing one of the climate change solutions in your essay. Video entries should be a minimum of 3 minutes and a maximum of 5 minutes in length, submitted via YouTube or similar link. The video must be an original work.
No copyrighted material (music, images, etc.) or trademarks (company names, logos, brands, etc.) may be used unless you own or have a license to use the material for this contest. Written permission must be obtained and provided upon request for all copyrighted or trademarked materials.
- CURRENT RÉSUMÉ – No longer than 1 page (8.5 x 11), 1.5 space, Times New Roman, Font 12 points.
- INTERVIEW PROCESS – All shortlisted students will be given a 30-minute interview.
Applicants must:
- Be a Bahamian studying and residing in The Bahamas.
- Have a valid up-to-date Bahamian Passport
- Not be older than 25 years of age as of 1st November, 2022.
Awards will be given to the top females and males within each category of:
- High school students 15 years of age or older.
- University/Tertiary Level Students (Age limit – 25 years).
