At COP26, there was a strong youth presence. Youth from around the world were able to raise their voices regarding concerns related to the Climate Change and the plight of the world. Youths from north and south countries were united in the call for world leaders to take action and make change and not speeches. While COP26 may have seen a difference in its approach and the results may not have been as impressive as was desired, one thing was clear: the Youth of the world have had enough and world leaders must take action! Now.
The presence of the youth at COP26 was unprecedented, but what was startling was the absence of youth from The Bahamas! The Bahamas — a country which was the most recent to suffer devastating impacts from Climate Change — had a very low youth representation. In an attempt to address this, a national competition is being undertaken, with the support of Corporate Bahamas, to provide the financial resources for young Bahamians to attend COP27 scheduled for November 7-18, 2022 in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt.
Participate in the first regional English-speaking climate change Conference of Youth and the first of its kind event to be hosted by The Bahamas.
Calling all Bahamian high school students (ages 15 and older) and university students in The Bahamas — Enter for your chance to add your voice and make an impact on the world stage at COP27, scheduled for November 7-18, 2022 in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt.
