Bahamas National Youth Committee

The Bahamas National Youth Committee (BNYC) is a volunteer advisory body of Bahamian youth (ages 16–25) established to support the work of the Climate Change and Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Ambassadors. First formed in 2023, the Committee plays a key role in advancing youth-led climate and sustainability initiatives across the country.

Youth Climate Committee Mandate

The BNYC exists to:

  • Support the platform goals of the reigning Climate Change and SDG Ambassadors.
  • Provide technical feedback and guidance on youth-led projects and campaigns.
  • Assist with national awareness and action on climate change and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
  • Strengthen youth representation in national programs and contribute to the long-term vision of institutionalizing the committee as a legal youth body.

The Committee’s responsibilities include:

  • Reviewing and advising on ambassador-led projects and implementation plans.
  • Recommending new initiatives and identifying opportunities for impact.
  • Helping to secure resources and partnerships for program execution.
  • Monitoring progress, identifying challenges, and proposing solutions.
  • Sharing lessons learned and aligning with other national efforts.
