The CCYA Program is a national initiative that selects two young Bahamians each year, one male and one female, to serve as representatives of Bahamian youth in climate change advocacy. Ambassadors promote awareness, lead initiatives, and represent The Bahamas at national and international forums.
The term lasts one year, during which ambassadors implement their platforms, lead outreach activities, and co-chair the Bahamas Youth Climate Conference (BYCC).
Two ambassadors are selected, one male and one female.
Ambassadors are expected to:
Ambassadors gain leadership experience, networking opportunities, and international exposure. They also develop skills in public speaking, project management, and policy engagement.
The program is facilitated by the Climate Change and Environmental Advisory Unit (CCEAU) in the Office of the Prime Minister.
Applicants must be Bahamian nationals between 18 and 25 years old with a demonstrated interest in climate change or environmental issues.
Experience is an asset, but is not required. A passion for climate action, leadership skills, and the ability and willingness to learn are most important.
Youth from schools, universities, and community groups across The Bahamas are welcome, along with educators and stakeholders
They can encourage student participation, host breakout discussions, or collaborate with ambassadors on activities.
